How to Move Backup Data for a File Backup or Object Storage Backup to a Different Repository

Purpose

This article documents the procedure for migrating backup data created by an unstructured data backup job (File Backup or Object Storage Backup ) from one backup repository to another backup repository so that the job can resume incremental backup operations using the new destination.

Solution

  1. Disable the File Backup or Object Storage Backup job whose backup data will be copied.
Disable
  1. Identify the Backup entry within the Backups > Disk section that belongs to the job.
  2. Right-click the entry identified and select Copy Backup.
Context Menu
  1. Using the drop-down boxes, select the new repository for the primary backup.
  2. If the Archive Repository is in use and you'd like to migrate it, use the drop-down boxes to select the new Archive Repository.
  3. Click OK to begin the Copy Backup process.

  1. When the Copy Backup is complete, continue to the next step.

  1. Map Job to Copied Backup Data
    1. Edit the job.
    2. On the Backup Repository tab, select the repository to which primary backup data was copied.
    3. With the new repository selected, click the Map button and map the job to the copied backup data.
    4. If the Archive Repository is in use and was copied, on the Archive Repository tab, use the drop-down box to select the new Archive Repository.
    5. Complete the job editing process.
