Challenge
After upgrading to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 6.0 P20220524, the mailbox backup for organizations added as Hybrid or Microsoft 365 may fail with the error:
Error: Unexpected proxy address format: x500:/o=ExchangeLabs/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=6a988fc15d474a1b9879943428200487-:
Cause
The SMTP address of a mailbox contains the ":" symbol.
Solution
HotFix Installation Instructions:
- Ensure you are running Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 build 6.0.0.385 (P20220524)
- Ensure that there are no Backup jobs or Restore sessions running.
- On the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server, stop the following services:
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
- Veeam Backup Proxy for Microsoft 365
- Download the hotfix via the button below.
- Extract the fix to: C:\Temp\KB4319\
- After extraction, unblock the file using the following PowerShell cmdlet:
Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Temp\KB4319\" -Recurse -Force | Unblock-File{{}}
- Backup the original DLL and replace it with the one from the fix in the following locations:
- C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup365\Veeam.Azure.ActiveDirectory.v11.1.0.dll
- C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup365\Packages\Proxy\Veeam.Azure.ActiveDirectory.v11.1.0.dll
- Start the services that were stopped in Step 3.
- Upgrade the Backup Proxy Servers.
