Release Information for Dell PowerStore Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication

KB ID: 4243
Product: Veeam Backup & Replication | 12 | 12.1
Published: 2021-11-22
Last Modified: 2024-05-29

Requirements

Before installing Dell PowerStore Plug-In v2.1.8, ensure that you are running Veeam Backup & Replication 12 or higher. To check the version, open the Main Menu (≡) in the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Help > About.

Dell PowerStore Plug-In v2.1.8 supports integration with the following storage systems:

  • PowerStore T series (PowerStore OS 3.0 and higher)
  • PowerStore X series (PowerStore OS 3.0 and higher)

What's New

  • Added support for Synchronous replication, allowing backup jobs to create coordinated storage snapshots, track them as additional available restore points, and perform backup from volumes on both sides on dual Dell PowerStore Native Metro configurations that serve the same production volume from multiple storage management backends.
  • Added support for PowerStore OS 4.0.
  • Added support for Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.

Known Issues

The following is a list of known major issues for Dell PowerStore Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication.

  • The Dell PowerStore Plug-In does not support Metro Node replication.
  • Volume Groups snapshot transfer may fail if the time between the Dell PowerStore arrays is not synchronized (time mismatch is more than 10 seconds). Time must also be synchronized with the Veeam Backup Server for the integration to work correctly.
  • Snapshot creation may fail if the account assigned to run the Veeam Backup & Replication services uses a non-colon time delimiter.
  • If the volume is part of a replication policy, snapshots created by Veeam Backup & Replication jobs that do not use Native Asynchronous Replication as a secondary target are transferred to a target array according to the storage schedule. However, these snapshots are not automatically deleted from the target array and should be manually cleaned up. This behavior does not apply to auxiliary snapshots created during backup jobs; they are automatically deleted from the target 24 hours after creation, provided they are replicated.
