Release Information for Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5 Cumulative Patches

KB ID: 4521
Product: Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV | 5.0
Published: 2023-12-05
Last Modified: 2023-12-05
Important Note
Due to a potential issue in Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.0, which may negatively affect backup chains under specific circumstances, it is strongly recommended that you prepare a maintenance window to upgrade to Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.1 as soon as you are able - prior versions (v4 and earlier) are not affected by this issue. See "Resolved Issues" for more details. Note that full disk reads will be instantiated during the first backup run following the upgrade, which may result in a longer backup duration.

Requirements

To upgrade to Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.1, download the installer below and run it on the Veeam Backup & Replication server that manages the AHV Backup Appliance(s). The Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.1 Plug-In must be installed before updating the Nutanix AHV Backup Appliance.

You can check the AHV Backup Appliance Version by clicking the gear icon at the top-right corner of the AHV Backup Appliance web console and selecting the Appliance Settings tab.

After updating the Nutanix AHV Backup Appliance, the version number will be 5.1.0.7.

Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.1 only supports integration with Veeam Backup & Replication version 12 and 12.1.

What's New

  • Email notification character encoding has been changed from UTF-16 to UTF-8.
  • Updated third-party software licensing.

Resolved Issues

  • A changed block tracking anomaly may result in restored VMs failing to boot.
  • Stale backup snapshots are not removed from the Veeam Backup & Replication database after a job run.
Now, the Veeam Backup & Replication database will retain only the latest backup snapshot for each VM in a job.
  • VeeamZIP may fail for a VM if a previous VeeamZIP of that same VM was copied to the same destination using the Copy Backup feature.
  • Abnormal backup agent termination resulting from worker out-of-memory condition.
  • Backup processing fails for VMs with disk volumes smaller than 1MB.
  • When attempting to create an AHV backup job that targets an HPE StoreOnce repository using the Veeam Backup & Replication Console, an error occurs, and the job cannot be created.
  • The job wizard in the Veeam Backup & Replication Console fails to open after a previously standalone repository is added as an extent to a SOBR.
  • Other minor security fixes.
