Challenge

After upgrading to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 6.0, higher than usual CPU usage may be observed during times when no tasks are occurring within Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

Solution

HotFix installation instructions:

  1. Ensure you are running Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 build 6.0.0.367
  2. Ensure no Backup jobs or Restore sessions are running, then stop both Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and Veeam Backup Proxy for Microsoft Office 365 services;
  3. Download the fix via the button below;
  4. Extract the fix to:  C:\Temp\KB4294\
  5. After extraction, unblock the file by running the following PowerShell cmdlet:
Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Temp\KB4294\" -Recurse -Force | Unblock-File
  1. Backup the original DLL and replace it with the one from the fix in the following location:
    • C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup365\Veeam.Archiver.Controller.dll
  2. Start the services that were stopped in Step 2.
  3. Upgrade the Backup Proxy Servers.
