Challenge
After upgrading to Veeam Backup & Replication 11a (build 11.0.1.1261), Enterprise Plug-in backups display the warning:
Backup metadata is not up to date. Please upgrade the backup.
Cause
Starting with Veeam Backup & Replication 11a (build 11.0.1.1261), a new backup file format is used for Enterprise Plug-ins (Veeam Plug-in for SAP HANA and Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN). A warning will occur if the backup files are not upgraded.
Solution
Information regarding the backup upgrade procedure can be found on the following user guide pages:
- Veeam Plug-in for SAP HANA > Deployment and Configuration > Upgrading Backup Files
- Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN > Deployment and Configuration > Upgrading Backup Files
For Veeam Plug-in 11a, the backup files upgrade is not obligatory. However, backup files created by Veeam Plug-in 10 will not be supported in the next version.
To disable the warning regarding upgrading Enterprise Plug-in backup data, create the following registry value on the Veeam Backup & Replication server.
Key Location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication
Value Name: DbPluginBackupUpgradeWarnings
Value Type: DWORD (32-bit) Value
Value Data: 0
Value Data options:
0 - Disable warning system.
1 - Enable warning system.
