How to Move the VBRCatalog Folder

Challenge

The VBRCatalog folder needs to be moved.

Cause


 

Solution

The following steps are to be performed on the server where Veeam Backup & Replication is installed.


  1. Make sure all jobs are stopped and constantly running jobs are disabled.
  2. Stop all Veeam services (PowerShell: gsv Veeam* | spsv)
    gsv Veeam* | spsv
  3. Move the VBRCatalog folder to the new location.†
  4. Recreate the Share
    1. Open Computer Management
    2. Navigate to [System Tools] > [Shared Folders] > [Shares]
    3. From Menu select [Action] > [New Share...]
    4. Select the new folder path to where the VBRCatalog was moved
    5. On the next page of the wizard the share name should be VBRCatalog
    6. On "Shared Folder Permissions" page select [Customize permissions]
    7. Remove "Everyone"
    8. Add "Administrators"
      Note: the Location selected when specifying Administrators must be the Veeam Server, not the domain.
    9. The Permissions should now list Adminsitrators with only Read Allow permission.
    10. Press OK, and Finish (twice) to complete recreation of the share.
  5. Change the location in the registry.
    1. Open Regedit
    2. Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup Catalog
    3. Find the REG_SZ entry named "CatalogPath"
    4. Change the Value data to match the new VBR catalog location.
  6. Start all Veeam services (PowerShell: gsv Veeam* | sasv)
    PowerShell: gsv Veeam* | sasv

 

More Information

† If the VBRCatalog folder is missing or was deleted, create a new folder named "VBRCatalog" in the desired new location.
