Challenge
After installing Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4, Hyper-V backup without application-aware processing may fail with this error:Error: The system cannot find the file specified. Failed to open file […] in readonly mode. Failed to open file […] for reading. |
Cause
This issue is caused by snapshot path in VM configuration being different from the actual path on a file system in terms of symbols capitalization.Solution
There are two ways to resolve the issue:1. Change snapshot path in VM configuration.
- Connect to the Hyper-V host and go to VM configuration of VM in question;
- Go to Checkpoints tab and choose ‘Browse…’ underneath the snapshot path;
- Update the path.
- Make sure that no jobs are running and then stop Veeam services;
- On Veeam server navigate to C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup, locate the original Veeam.Backup.Core.dll, rename it to “Veeam.Backup.Core_old.dll” and place the file from hotfix to the same folder;
- Start all Veeam services
